The Strange “This Is Us” Switch Up.
The “This Is Us” lovers are starting to feel like Miguel is starting to grow on them, something that they thought they would never feel. This is however the case as in (Season 2, Episode 11) where the Pearson clan is sitting in a circle, looking all uncomfortable as an addiction specialist guides kelvin towards opening up a group dialogue. On a normal occasion, this would be a family gathering at one of the Pearson’s lavishing homes.
What leads to this therapy is a drunk Kelvin driving at a high speed with Tess at the back seat. A possible scenario was with Kelvin entering into what seemed as a wreck but the writers knew that our hearts would not handle that. Tess’s parents had just been through a heartbreak of having to re-unite their foster daughter to her biological mom and that meant that Tess is all they had.
This is probably why a cop pulled him up and when we see him again, he had been at the rehab for three months trying to fix the damage he had done to himself and the people that loved him.
This is why we are having the Pearson’s meeting which is a family thing meaning that Beth, Miguel and Toby are not invited. They therefore had to look for a place to spend the afternoon, a bar, that Toby thinks is ironic. During the session, the very deeply emotions of Kevin always feeling ousted by the family comes to head. This led to him looking for the admiration and the attention on the media that he never got from his family that was on everyone’s case except his leaving him feeling like a third wheel.
So really the law of attraction is at play here as Kevin has been looking for what he never got from the family, from the mass but that doesn’t change things. As the other three are drinking, we focus on the Miguel, that is so sweet to the Pearson’s but we cannot ignore the fact that he is married to his best friend’s wife. The Perfect Jack Pearson’s wife who nobody can compare to. Miguel knows his place which he is okay with and knows that to change it, it would require the reversal of the very fabric that weaves together the Pearson just like Kelvin. The only difference is that unless Kevin makes amends and heals , he will keep unraveling it but Miguel on the other hand may be what the family needs to get back together.
